Group “Penki kontinentai” participated in the largest information technology and telecommunications exhibition in Central Asia “Kitel 2009”, held at the end of May in Almaty. In this event, held for the sixteenth time, Lithuanian company introduced newest solutions for banking technologies and payment cards.

“We were the only ones to present specialized solutions to financial institutions and retail trade companies. In addition to outsourcing services, software, designed to make payments through information terminals grabbed the most attention of exhibition visitors and participants”, says Kristina Bojarun, sales manger for “Penkiu kontinentu”  Bankines technologijos (BS/2).

According to her, using information terminals with integrated Lithuanian solution “iQxml”, people and business costumers may pay for public utilities, mobile and fixed communication services operators, cable TV or internet and various state taxes, and so forth.

During “Kitel 2009”, representatives of BS/2 have also organized a conference called “Cost Saving Strategies Through Outsourcing Services”, which was opened by the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Republic of Kazakhstan Romualdas Kozyrovicius.

“In Kazakhstan, as in any other country, banks and all other enterprises are searching for ways to optimize operating costs. This is the reason why our topic has caught attention of numerous bank representatives”, says K. Bojarun.

“Penki kontinentai” established its first contacts more than 10 years ago. Since then, more than 4 thousand ATMs, information terminals and other equipment have been installed in the country. In 2006 in Almaty Lithuanian secondary company “BS/2 Kazakhstan” was opened. It is providing maintenance services to the largest banks in the country and in the entire Central Asian region.

According to the data of National Bank of Kazakhstan, in the beginning of 2009 in the country with 15 million inhabitants 7.13 million payment cards were issued. During 2008, in comparison with the preceding year, the number of transactions made using payment cards grew by 32 percent. Whole value of transactions has grown by 73 percent.

In the beginning of this year banks and other enterprises in Kazakhstan owned more than 20 thousand payment card readers and 8 101 ATMs.
