Penki Kontinentai Has Become a Member of the Open IPTV Forum

One of the highlights of the International Internet and Communications Technology Exhibition IP&TV World Forum 2011, which was opened on 22 March in London, was joining the Open IPTV Forum by Lithuania representing group of companies Penki Kontinentai.

The Open IPTV Forum is an international organization that develops common standards for IPTV contributing to transfer IPTV technology to a completely new level of use. The Open IPTV Forum was created in March 2007; its founding members were Ericsson, France Telecom, Nokia, Siemens, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony Corporation, and Telecom Italia. Such global companies as Cisco, Motorola, Gemalto, Philips, Sun Microsystems, and many others also belong to the organization. In cooperation with each other, these telecommunication companies are developing the IPTV solutions based on open standards that simplify the use of IPTV to a plug-and-play level.

Welcoming the Lithuanian company, which has joined the Open IPTV Forum, Head of this international organization Yun Chao Hu and Vice President Mohamed Dadas said that the advanced solutions of Penki Kontinentai provide an excellent opportunity to expand the use of the technology also in medicine, tourism, and many other fields. According to the Company's Chairman Idrak Dadashov, being part of this international organization is not only high appreciation of the Company, but also an excellent opportunity to create and spread IPTV technologies globally.

“One of the most important tasks of the above mentioned organization is to develop the universal service standards that would enable consumers to enjoy full benefits of IPTV, irrespective of what software or hardware they use. So, belonging to the Open IPTV Forum we will have a great opportunity together with other major global companies to develop and improve the IPTV solutions,” said I. Dadashov.
