8th rotation of PRT prepare for mission in Afghanistan

First stage of PRT-8 preparation for deployment to Afghanistan – refreshment of basic individual combat skills - will be finished by June 25

Soldiers completed stage of preparation that lasted from May to June in three groups. Each group underwent two-week course at the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Training Battalion, members of guard squad took part in firing exercise in the United Kingdom.

Later soldiers back from the mission will share experience with their colleagues. Readiness for the mission of PRT-8 will be estimated in a concluding exercise in October 2008.

PRT-8 is composed on the basis of volunteer soldiers of National Defence Volunteer Force Zemaiciu District 3rd Territorial Unit. PRT-8 is scheduled to replace PRT-7 currently on mission in November 2008.

PRT rotation of November 2006 - May 2007 was already manned by volunteer soldiers.
