Russia, Estonia, Finland open seafaring control system

Estonian Economics and Communications Minister Andrus Ansip, Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin, and Finnish Transport and Communications Minister Leena Luhtanen opened a single system for controlling their countries seafaring in the Baltic Sea, called GOFREP (Gulf of Finland Reporting System), on Tuesday in Helsinki.
"In effect, the system began working this summer. Its purposes include collecting information about ships, their movement, and any dangerous cargo they may be carrying," Ansip said at the GOFREP opening ceremony.
