For the first time the Diplomas of Master Degree in Information and Communication were handed to Vilnius University International Center of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge Management seniors on the 15 of June at 10 o’clock at the St. Johns’ Church.

For the first time the Diplomas of Master Degree in Information and Communication were handed to Vilnius University International Center of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge Management seniors on the 15 of June at 10 o’clock at the St. Johns’ Church.

The Center will celebrate its first anniversary next week; President Valdas Adamkus – the patron of the Center, UNESCO goodwill ambassador of creation of informational community visited the event to compliment the graduates and the Center. Other Center partners and guests from different business and state institutions also took part in the ceremony. 50 master degree diplomas were handed to the graduates of Informational management (full-time), Informational system management (full-time) and International communication (distance studies).

The event of VU International Center of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge Management diplomas award gathered lightsome, optimistic, assertive students, their kinsfolk, the Center’s personnel, sponsors. The St. Johns’ Church blossomed with many ken speckle students’ nosegays. The principal of VU Birutë Pociûtë said: “A solemn event begins today at Vilnius University. The first group of seniors will get their diplomas soon“. B.Pociûtë exulted with another event of VU – the University celebrated their 425 years anniversary this year and also saw off the first crop of seniors.

“The old classical University mirrors a new concept. The new sciences, which the old University didn’t have, have appeared in it, - said the principal of VU. – There is not enough of acquired experience. We must look into the future, to intertwine it with the requirements of today’s life“. Finishing her speech and wishing “good luck in the difficult lot of an adult“ B. Pociûtë told, that an educated man must first be an intellectual, but the diploma that he or she got is not a limit of the career, the seniors have to raise their qualification for a dynamic life forces, to improve the knowledge.

The patron of the new Center - President Valdas Adamkus – congratulated the seniors and stressed the importance of today’s celebration not only to students, but also to the whole country. V. Adamkus said that knowledge has invaluable price in the creation of new technologies. They are especially important in stepping to the XXI century, where Lithuania must be equal with the other countries in its education.  “

“Your knowledge is an improvement, we do not lag behind in our intellectuality, we are showing a great example to the other states, - says V. Adamkus.- I want you not to stop in your life, as it is only beginning. Show your power, intellect; all eyes of the world are set on us. Be strong, go ahead with the others. And they will follow you, therefore you have to use your possibilities to raise the level of people’s life and “to cement the foundations” of Lithuania“.

A director of the Information Society Development Committee under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania Aurimas Matulis also came to congratulate the seniors of VU International Center of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge Management. A. Matulis expressed his joy when talking about the first crop of seniors and notified the importance of specialists in this field: “This field’s professionals are the mostly required. The government prefers the development of informational society. We hope, more of you come to the civil service sector each year. You are wanted and acceptable. You are the future, so don’t stop!”.

The director of VU International Center of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge Management professor Renaldas Gudauskas, talking about the Center, was satisfied with the professionalism of the Center’s personal, their competence: “We have created a brave, mobile, supple collective during these years. We’ve also got an opportunity to invoke the experience of foreign experts, who agreed to be our guests“.

The seniors were invited to take their diplomas after the congratulation speeches. They also got commemorative presents – a new edition about VU International Center of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge Management “Witfor 2003 White Book“ and the Center’s badge, President V. Adamkus presented his book “Penkeri darbo metai“ (“Five years of working”). The light of joy and pride was shining in the eyes of the seniors and their parents at that moment.

The offspring of the long and hard work is already in the seniors’ hands. And what do they have in their souls? “I think, this is not the last top. There is always time and place to improve our knowledge. There was work and sweat during study time. I hope, my associates will continue their studies and our prestige specialty will help to find the right road to life“, - says a senior of the International communication studies Irina Rudanova.
