On the establishment of a new Tallinn-based university

Published: 3 September 2001 y., Monday
Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn Pedagogical University and Estonian Institute of Humanities are planning the establishment of a new Tallinn-based university with a bias on humanities. As the spheres of the three institutions partly coincide and also their future plans are similar, it would be reasonable to harmonize activities of the three higher educational institutions in the framework of one new university, a spokesman for Tallinn Pedagogical University said. According to a proposal by the three institutions' rectors, the new university would be established with the three institutions merging on a basis of parity. Even after the merger, the merging parties would be able to retain their present identities, operating as institutions of the new university. According to the rectors' proposal, the new institution would have the status of a public university.
