12 thousand Lithuanian citizens abroad to vote in upcoming general elections.
This year the number of people to vote abroad, compared to the previous elections to the Lithuanian Seimas (parliament), increased by one third.
According to the preliminary list of voters which the Central Electoral Committee got from diplomatic missions and consular institutions, about 12 thousand Lithuanians currently abroad will be able to express their opinion in the general elections of Oct. 8.
About 8 thousand Lithuanians were in foreign countries during the 1996 elections. "These numbers do not correspond to the number of Lithuanians living abroad," Angonita Rupsyte, the parliament employee told.
