Architect of Vietnam War dies

Former Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, the leading architect of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, has died in his sleep at his home in Washington, D.C.

 

McNamara, was recruited by John F. Kennedy to be America's eighth Defense Secretary from the presidency of the Ford Motor Company and became a lightning rod for criticism of the war.
