IM BALANCE :Diary

Published: 1 August 2000 y., Tuesday
IM.BALANCE is an international music and theatre project. 30 participants from Germany, Lithuania, Sweden and UK are camping in Quedlinburg, Germany for 3 weeks, creating music and theatre piece and are going to perform it!

Hi, everybody!
We would like to share our experience with you very much!

Project IM.BALANCE was started almost a week ago. Young people from 4 European countries: Germany, Lithuania, Sweden and UK create theatre music! There are 30 participants aged from 16 to 20 and 12 teammates, who are helping them to express themselves. This project is supported by EU program 'Youth'. The main aims are to create music, drama as well as to work with the youth letting them to know better themselves and other people and cultures. In our accommodation in Germany, Quedlinburg, we live together, every day we create working groups and have rehearsals. Theirs is always piece and democracy!

We are having a really great time here: playing theatre and music, drinking beer; we enjoy learning funny sentences in each other’s languages very much. The more time we spend together, the more friends we get. It's so nice to build new relationships! When you come to a new country like some of us do, it's very interesting to watch all the differences among each country. “We exchange experiences with each other and build bridges between cultures”, Camilla from Sweden says.

“Everybody is creates something. Here you can hear different kinds of music. But most interesting is that together it sounds like a harmony. We are just native souls like a couple of crazy friends joined together to create something what we can, bring more happiness to our lives. Why crazy? Because we are singing everywhere and everything: In the shower, in the shops, in the streets, even instead the sleep. “I'm really sorry about the neighbours” , Kati from Lithuania thinks so.

Welcome to our diary! 31st of July
Well, from the very beginning. We arrived yesterday about 10 pm. We all were tired and angry; one of our friends sang his songs all night long! But when we arrived everything went just wonderful. We took a shower, ate chocolate. Then we sang for a while and played the piano in the music room. And today we’ve played drama games and have been making conversations. Oh, it is so hard to remember all the names! Well, now we are still waiting for the British group. Were are you???

Love everybody
Katie from Lithuania

Kara dagbok!
That was for Dear Diary in Swedish. Today we the whole group has gathered at least. Here are some really funny people. We had brainstorm on what we are going to do our performance. It's amazing how much people can do in such little time. I think I will write a poem instead writing a lot of bullshit.

Some people are not from the same place
And they don't talk like I do.
The people don't have the same face.
But that is probably a good thing, too.
It's strange to meet another human being
Who doesn't think alike
And I am getting a great feeling
When I’m riding my bike.
If you haven’t understood it, it is not my problem. Now I have to stop writing and go down to my friends. My best wishes!
Lots of love from Mari (19 years old) Sweden

Tjena dagboken!
That means 'dear diary' in Swedish. I haven't got much to say about this day, shortly we were divided into groups and played either music or drama, we‘ve also been playing tennis and discussing different ideas. And it is so interesting to see that we are not the same. We started to develop our ideas as I said earlier.

Hello there!
Today the day is relly nice!
After the daily worming-up games the musicians went downstairs to play. In the theatre group our ideas are starting to become reality at the stage. In the afternoon we had the opportunity to take the chance to swim in the pool! Some of us also went to Halberstadt to look backstage at the theatre. It was like a paradise for us! They showed us the old clothes. We tried to put them on. We were running around in the gleam and glamour.
And now we are having a disco...
Love
