Simon Wiesenthal Center investigating Nazi crimes extremely favourably met a news about the action initiated by Lithuanian prosecutor general against Australian Lithuanian Antanas Gudelis suspected in war crimes and genocide. Centre Director Efraim Zuroff said in his statement sent to ELTA news agency that it was the first positive step of late years in this case. Zuroff said he had delivered to Lithuanian embassy in Tel-Aviv documents related to the crimes, which were allegedly committed during World War II by Gudelis now living in Adelaide, Australia. Zuroff had insisted that Lithuanian government soughed for extradition of the person charged, or he was tried at the court without his presence.
