The Baltic Way was commemorated in Tokyo

The twentieth anniversary of the Baltic Way was commemorated in Tokyo.

The joint event organized by the Embassies of the Republic of Lithuania as well as Latvia, Estonia was hosted by the Embassy of Czech Republic on 27th August.

Jaromir Novotny, Ambassador of Czech Republic, greeted representatives of Japanese public society and media, diplomats. Ambassador emphasized that countries under former Soviet Union experienced a bigger oppression compare those countries that became part of the Social Block after World War II.

The secret documents of Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, by which Europe seventy years ago was divided into Nazis and Soviet influence zones were presented in Latvian documentary film “The Soviet Story” (director Edvins Snore). Japanese audience was shocked by the documented atrocities of Soviet regime.
