University celebrated its first
anniversary on 22 of June in a modern conference room of the trade center “Europa“. Center partners, guests from
different business and state institutions, and eventual chiefs of the future
proved an all known truth – knowledge, information and proficiency to use them
rule the XXI century.
International Centre
of Knowledge Economy & Management of Vilnius University celebrated its first
anniversary on 22 of June in a modern conference room of the trade center “Europa“. Center partners, guests from
different business and state institutions, and eventual chiefs of the future
proved an all known truth – knowledge, information and proficiency to use them
rule the XXI century.
The seniors of the Center
read scientific reports, patrons, partners, business and politics’
representatives congratulated the Center. The director of VU International Center of Knowledge Economy
and Knowledge Management professor Renaldas Gudauskas, opening the
ceremony, was talking about the Center’s activity, achievements, future’s
visions, mission and etc.
The reports were presented
by a senior of the Center Tomas Derþanauskas (“Challenges and possibilities of
knowledge economy for the students of VU International Center of Knowledge Economy
and Knowledge Management“), an adjutant of the Center, a marketing
director of JSC ”Èili“ Greta Urmanaitë (“Strategic communication in an activity
of organizations“), a head of the Information political department of the
Lithuanian Internal Affairs Ministry Saulius Jastiuginas (“Projects on
informational society of the Information political department of the Internal
Affairs Ministry“), a proxy of a superintendent of European Integration and
Public Information Division of Information Society Development Committee Linas
Peèiûra (“EU structural funds sponsorship of the integration of information
society“).
The adjutant of the Center,
and the head of the Information political department of the Lithuanian Internal
Affairs Ministry Saulius Jastiuginas, presenting a concept of the safe projects
of e-government, notified, that processes of information management are
important in state institutions in nowadays life: proclamation of taxes via
e-facilities, voting via Internet, etc. An e-enginery of public administration
is developing along with information management. S. Jastiuginas were talking
about an importance of the Center’s potential at business sector, which is
sponsored by business chiefs.
A director of the
Information Society Development Committee under the Government of the
Republic of Lithuania Aurimas
Matulis also notified the importance of
specialists in the field of information management. This field’s professionals
are the mostly required in civil and private service sectors. He expressed joy
saying, that about 10 percents of the Center’s seniors are working at the
Committee.
“You can not only see a
view of the capital from the highest top of Vilnius’ skyscraper, you can also create
something new. Let’s create our plans from the top”, - said Justas Jaskonis, the
manager of VU International Center of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge
Management.

the basis of the former Institute of
Knowledge
Management of the Faculty of
Communication, Vilnius
University pursuant to the
Decision of the Vilnius University Senate of 17 June
2003.
The project
of the Center is supported by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe,
World Bank and National UNESCO Commission. Companies group “Penki
kontinentai“ is one of the Center’s partners. The
sphere of activity as envisaged for the International Center of Knowledge
includes international academic, research and business projects with the focus
being given to the Central and Eastern
Europe
states.
The Center
seeks to make a substantial contribution to the development of the Lithuanian
system of higher education by creating, sustaining and developing the
intellectual potential of the society in order to turn research and knowledge
accumulation into the basic factor which would ensure the development of the
State of Lithuania under the conditions of globalization.
For the
first time the Diplomas of Master Degree in Information and Communication were
handed to Vilnius University International Center of Knowledge Economy and
Knowledge Management seniors on the 15 of June at 10
o’clock at the
St.
Johns’
Church.
