The Third Protest Rally

More than 100 people gathered today evening in the center of Minsk to taker part in the third protest rally after October 17. People came to express indignation at outrageous falsifications in favor of Lukashenka on the recent elections and referendum. At the square two large slogans were unfurled "You`ll live in dictatorship forever, if you are obedient and fainthearted", and "What`s next is to be decided by us". Some of the participants of the protest held portraits of the UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka in their hands. Lyabedzka was brutally beaten during yesterdays` protest. Minsk riot police were sent to break up the rally. People were grabbed by their arms and thrown to the special buses. The participants of meeting was dispersed and forced away from the square. According to the recent information, more than 10 protesters were arrested, among them - member of the European coalition "Free Belarus" Dzmitry Barodka from Barysaw (Minsk region). Previous to the rally coordinator of the resistance movement Zubr Yawhen Afnagel was arrested. His car was stopped by the Chyrvonaya Street by several cars with tinted glasses and police number plates. Four men in mufti put Afnagel into a car and drove him to the Lenin district court of Minks. IN little time he was convicted for participation in recent protests and sentenced to 10 days of arrest. Despite of the arrests, participants of the today`s action are urging people to come tomorrow to the October Square of Minsk at 6 p.m.
