The facade of the building in Bialystok which contains [opposition] Democratic Left Alliance [SLD] deputies' offices and Kwasniewski's electoral staff was probably pelted with plastic bags containing red paint. The banner of the electoral staff and the information notices of the deputies' offices and the Podlasie Left Centre were also taken down and removed. An office employee discovered the damage on 4th August morning. The Rented Office Owners' Association estimates the damage at about PLZ 10,000. The chairman of its board, Andrzej Pawlak, has told PAP that he does not expect that it will be possible to determine the perpetrators of this attack, and so the costs will have to be borne by the association. The SLD staff in Orzeszow and a banner with the slogan "We are collecting signatures for Aleksander Kwasniewski - president of the Polish Republic" was pelted with mud and eggs. The event took place on 3rd August evening, the press spokesman of the local police, Janusz Szwarc, revealed on Friday. The banner was fixed to the building of the Piast Cinema where the president's electoral staff is situated. The vandals also tore down the information board of the SLD staff, the spokesman told PAP. The staff has estimated the losses at about PLZ 600. The police are looking for the perpetrators.
