Greece beat host nation Portugal 1-0 in the final of Euro 2004 on Sunday with a 57th minute goal from Angelos Charisteas to win the first major football title in their history.
Greek coach Otto Rehhagel from Germany became the first foreigner to win the European title. And at Wimbledon, the men's tennis final has been won the Swiss Roger Federer. The title defender fought back to beat the American Andy Roddick in four sets. Motor sport, and the French Grand Prix has been won by Michael Schumacher. It was the Ferrari driver's ninth win of the Formula One season. Cycling, and first 200-kilometre stage of the Tour de France, between Liege and Charleroi in Belgium, has been won by the Estonian profi' Jan Kirsipuu. Second was the Australian Robbie McEwen.
