Nine military will represent Lithuanian Armed Forces in Olympic Games

Beijing, the host city for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Representatives of Lithuanian Armed Forces will leave for Beijing Olympic Games 2008 from Ministry of National Defence on July 31. Nine athletes serving in the National Defence System will participate in the XXIX Olympic Games. Three of them had already left for final stage of preparation in international sports camps abroad.

Three participants also took part in the Games last year. Seven military out of nine are members of National Defence Volunteer Force, the rest serve with other detachments of the Armed Forces.

All the participants are members of Lithuanian Armed Forces Sports Units coordinated by Sports Club of Lithuanian armed Forces. The Club is responsible for organisation of military sports camps and preparation for Europe’s and world’s games of the military.
