President Valdas Adamkus wishes good luck to the delegation of Lithuanian sportsmen leaving for Beijing to take part in the Olympic Games.
“We will be your ardent supporters, enjoying at the same time achievements by other athletes and a straight fight in sport arenas,” says Lithuania’s President.
“It is a great honor and also responsibility to host Olympic Games as the hosting country has a duty to maintain and respect the spirit and principles of Olympic contests,” notes Valdas Adamkus.
Wishing China every success in organizing this global sport event, Lithuania's President says he hopes the Olympic Games will help the world to learn more about China’s rich history, its culture and people. “I hope China's opening to the world, the dialogue being developed in the country and its progress will be successfully continued even after the Games,” President Adamkus says.
Lithuania’s President is not going to take part in the Olympic Games opening ceremony but plans to participate in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to be held in China this coming autumn.
