Azerbaijan Tops CIS Industrial Production

The highest production among the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries – 19.4% - was observed in Azerbaijan in January-May as compared to the same period of last year, the CIS statistics committee said on Monday.

The country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 16%.

In Georgia, the figure made up just 10.9% of the overall volume registered in this country in January-May 2004.
Industrial goods worth 15.5 trillion manats ($3.3 billion) were produced in the country in this period. 6.1% of the volume was made up by services provided in this sector. 55.2% of the goods were produced by enterprises engaged in production, 37.4% in the processing industry and the rest in the electrical energy, gas and water production.
