Kazakh TuranAlem H1 net profit soars 2.3 times

Bank TuranAlem <BTAS.KZ>, Kazakhstan's second-largest bank, increased its net profit 2.3 times to 9.36 billion tenge ($69 million) in the January-June period compared with the first half of 2004, it said on Monday.
    TuranAlem, which published its statement in the official
Kazakhstanskaya Pravda daily, provided no other data for its
balance sheet in the first half of this year.
    TuranAlem owns a number of subsidiaries in neighbouring
Russia and other ex-Soviet states.    ($1 = 135.80 tenge)
