Valdas Adamkus to Meet US President, Vice President and Secretary of Defense

President Valdas Adamkus, currently on a working visit in the United States of America, will meet with US President George W. Bush in the White House. President Adamkus will also meet with US Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

Among the issues to be discussed are topical international matters and the strengthening of the principles of democracy and international law in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus countries. The agenda also includes bilateral relations between Lithuania and the United States, the introduction of US visa-free regime for Lithuanian nationals, urgent energy issues, and energy security.

President Adamkus will return to Vilnius Tuesday evening.
