On 6 October, the Embassy of Latvia to Lithuania received a reply to the note of Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the ruling of Vilnius District Court pertaining to the Latvian company airBaltic and Riga’s airport on the basis of the request of the Lithuanian company flyLAL.

Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs speaks up for equal business and free competition conditions, which are guaranteed by the European Union law. In the note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Latvia, it is stressed that the dispute between two commercial companies had to be arbitrated by the court rightly and impartially in conformity with the national and the EU legal acts in force. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invites to avoid politicizing the judicial dispute of the economy subjects.

We are entirely convinced that judicial proceedings of this dispute should not impact good neighbourly relations between Lithuania and Latvia, or hamper successful and intensive economic cooperation between the two countries.

The note was handed in to Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Lithuania Bonifacijs Daukšts at Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
