California stages big quake drill

The biggest US earthquake drill ever was held in South California.

The so-called Great Southern California ShakeOut assumes a monster quake of 7.8 in magnitude striking the San Andreas Fault.

That's similar in scale to what shook China in May. Experts say the hypothetical quake would kill 1800 people and injure 50,000.

It would topple 1500 buildings and knock out access to water for months.
