Polish Police Seize USD 1.5 Million in Counterfeit Bills
Polish border police have seized more than USD 1.5 million (EUR 1.7 million) in counterfeit 100 dollar bills in a raid on an apartment in the northern port city of Gdansk, a spokesman said Thursday. The dollar bills "were very good copies and everything leads one to believe they were printed in Poland," Border Guard Spokesman Grzegorz Gorynski told PAP news agency. Police detained a 28-year-old Gdansk man they suspect to be the forger, whose identity was not released. If convicted the man faces a jail term of up to 25 years.
