European Neighbours Day in Dublin

To celebrate European Neighbours Day, a new photo exhibition entitled Images from Slovenia and Ireland went on display this week at the European Commission Representation in Ireland.

This unique exhibition compares and contrasts Slovenian and Irish landscapes and gives the observer an opportunity to explore similarities despite 2000km of separation.

Five photographers, Audrey Ryan and Michael Larkin from Ireland and Igor Hrvatin, Katarina Škerjanec and Amalija Jelen Mikša from Slovenia, were invited by H.E. Mr Franc Mikša the Ambassador of Slovenia to Ireland, to contribute works that best reflected their national landscape and heritage.

Mr Martin Territt, Director of the European Commission Representation in Ireland, welcomed the exhibition by saying, “Images from Slovenia and Ireland” helps connect us with citizens across other EU Member States on European Neighbours Day. The photos on display today show the environmental and architectural similarities that these two small but remarkable countries enjoy and give us all the chance to explore areas of cultural similarity.“

Among those who attended the launch on 26 May were H.E. Mr Franc Mikša the Ambassador of Slovenia to Ireland and Mr Francis Jacobs, Head of the European Parliament Office in Ireland.

This exhibition runs Monday to Friday from 26 May to 5 June, 9am-5pm at European Union House, 18 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 and entrance is free.
