Valuable climate talks in Bonn

EU delegates to the climate change talks in Bonn met representatives of NGOs and the business community.

“We think it is important and valuable to listen to a wide range of voices in this connection,” says Anders Turesson, chief negotiator for Sweden and chair of the EU group.

Despite the summer holiday season, more than 2000 officials and representatives are in Bonn for informal climate talks. Several meetings at political level this summer have provided a basis to build upon, including stronger support for the position that global temperatures must rise by no more than two degrees above pre-industrial levels.

The informal talks are taking place from 10 August to 14 August. The Swedish Presidency of the European Union will give a joint press conference in Bonn with the European Commission and the incoming Spanish Presidency.
