Lithuania’s Exports Continue to Grow

In the first 8 months of the year, compared to the same period of last year, Lithuanian exports continued to grow and increased by 21% and imports – by 13%. In January-August Lithuania’s main export partners were the United Kingdom (15% of total exports), Latvia (14%), Germany (13%), Russia (9%). 49% of exports went to EU states and increased by 23% compared with the same period of the previous year. Lithuania’s major import partners were also EU countries (43% of total imports). “Beside mineral products exports of other products were also growing, which is a very good sign. Stable growth of exports and lower growth of imports will balance Lithuania’s foreign trade”, says Rimantas Rudzkis, Chief Analyst of Vilniaus Bankas.
