Finance Minister to unveil measures to aid companies

Poland Prime Minister Leszek Miller said that on Tuesday the new Finance Minister Grzegorz Kolodko would present a package of solutions designed to help ailing companies, including partial reduction of debts that they owe the Treasury. Miller said that it is an absolute priority for the government to do everything possible to help companies and stop them from going bankrupt. He said that some of the proposals put forward by Kolodko will be seen as original and unconventional, but he said that the situation calls for this. Miller declined to discuss possible plans to devalue the zloty, saying only that the recent depreciation will be good for stimulating exports, finding [export] markets and creating new jobs.
