Poland offers services in oil and gas sector
Poland has offered Pakistan its services in the oil and gas sector with an investment option. Speaking as a chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Pakistan-Poland Trade and Investment Forum (PPTIF) on Thursday, the Ambassador of Poland, Tomsz Kozlowski said that besides a Polish company already operating, two other Polish companies are offering their services in the oil and gas sector. Additionally, Pakistani companies are trying to attract the attention of Polish companies for investment opportunities in the power sector. The Polish envoy pointed out that despite good relations of cooperation, the capabilities in developing economic and trade relations as well as other fields of cooperation between the two countries are not fully utilised. He termed the lack of knowledge as the main reason for not utilising full opportunities on both sides. He cited coal mining, energy sector, textile industry, agriculture sector, construction industry and oil and gas sector as the most promising fields of cooperation between the two countries. Poland’s economy is growing at a fast pace and big investments are going on there since the Polish government adopted market economy. While inviting Pakistani exporters to explore the Polish market, he said that Poland would become a full member of the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2004, after which the foreign companies doing business with Poland would enjoy all such facilities of tariff and trade as they are getting in other EU member countries.
