Exports Increased by 8.1% in Nine Months

Lithuanian exports increased by 8.9% in the first eight months of the year compared to the same period of 2003, whereas the growth in imports was 3.8%, with the European Union being Lithuania’s key export destination, according to the Department of Statistics. 11.4% of all exports went to Switzerland, 11% - to Russia, 10% to Germany and 9.7% to Latvia. Russia remained Lithuania’s biggest import partner, accounting for 22.3% of total imports. It was followed by Germany (16.3%), Poland (5%) and Italy.
