EUR 80 M investment

Indorama, one of the biggest and most successful Asian companies plans a EUR 80 million investment in a PET resins factory in the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone (FEZ), says a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding signed between Klaipeda FEZ, Indorama and the Lithuanian Development Agency. The construction of the factory will start in January 2004, and will be carried out in two phases, the first of which will be finished in December 2004 and the second – in December 2005. The PET plant will be an integrated world class facility. The plant and technology is environment friendly and the group itself is committed to the protection of environment. The PET plant will provide direct emplyment to 120 people in Lithuania and hundreds of indirect jobs to persons engaged in logistics and transport, considering that the new factory will have a container traffic of about 18,000 TEUs.
