Bulgarian Heads Moscow World Bank Office
A Bulgarian national will head World Bank's office in Moscow, the local Economic Strategies Institute reported. The appointment of Kristalina Georgieva came after the approval by Russian President Vladimir Putin and the World Bank's Director James Ulfenson. Until now, Kristalina was in charge for shaping the World Bank's strategy and policies on the environment. Georgieva has been responsible for the overall performance of the Bank's environmental portfolio. Prior to her appointment as Director of Environment, she was managing the Environment Sector for East Asia and the Pacific Region of the World Bank. Since 2001, Dr Georgieva has been appointed a Guest Professor of Tshinghua University in China. She is currently a Board Member of the Institute for Sustainable Communities. She has more than 80 publications on environmental policy and sustainable development.
