Lithuania is 17th among 30 world’s most attractive countries to invest into retail trade, according to a research carried out by global management consulting firm AT Kearney. The research shows that in 2003 most investments of retail trade companies went to Eastern Europe. German retail trade networks such as Lidl and Aldi as well as do-it-yourself type shops like B&G and Home Depot are very active in new EU member states. In January – April, 2004, compared to the same period of 2003, retail trade growth in Lithuania was 14.5%, according to Statistics Lithuania.
