Budapest and Vienna bourse seek to tie up with WSE

The Budapest and Vienna bourses are interested in bidding during the process of privatizing the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE), said Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy, president of the management board of the Hungarian floor. "We recently discussed this with WSE president Rozłucki, but these were preliminary talks and no final decision has been made yet," explained Szalay-Berzeviczy. He stressed that the idea of creating one strong bourse in the Central European region is gaining growing support in Hungary and Austria. "Our main shareholders are banks, which are interested in developing operations in this part of Europe - and Warsaw is an important financial center," said Szalay-Berzeviczy. The transaction would be carried out in the form swopping shares and thus making WSE a shareholder in the two stock exchanges.
