Berezovsky's arrival in Latvia not political issue - PM

Latvian Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis believes prominent Russian businessman Boris Berezovsky's arrival in Latvia is "a legal, rather than political issue" and should be addressed by prosecution authorities and the police, the premier's spokesman Arno Pjatkins told BNS on Friday. Commenting on the Russian Foreign Ministry's response to Berezovsky's arrival in Latvia, Pjatkins said: "We cannot comment on legal issues," he said. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a comment on Berezovsky's trip to Latvia on Friday in which it said that "in failing to take measures to detain Berezovsky, Riga ignored its obligations as an Interpol member and demonstrated its unreliability as a partner in fighting organized crime."
