Bulgaria Attracted EUR 5.7 B FDI in 4 Years

Over the last four years Bulgaria attracted more than EUR 5.7 B foreign investments, which is 45% of the investments gathered in the years between 1992 to 2003. The data was presented Thursday by Bulgaria's Deputy Economy Minister Valentin Parvanov during a seminar called "Bulgaria as a future market for services in the planning and consultations filed." Bulgaria's 2004 foreign investments reached EUR 1.958 B thus setting a new record-high level. The total amount of foreign investments for the period 2001-2004 makes 62% of the whole direct foreign investments for the past 13 years, Bulgaria's Economy Minister Milko Kovachev explained earlier in March. Direct foreign investment last year equalled 9.2% of GDP, which is the highest ratio in Central and Eastern Europe as compared to 5.6% in neighbouring Romania and 4.4% in the Czech Republic.
