Unisys Corporation today announced that Tom Patterson has joined the company as vice president for global security solutions, responsible for leading Unisys' security solutions business worldwide.

Patterson is a recognized industry expert and thought leader in cyber security, with more than 25 years of experience in leading security organizations both in the commercial and public sector.

Patterson most recently served as global general manager of CSC's cybersecurity consulting business. Prior to that, he was the chief security officer for secure payment provider MagTek Inc., where he also led an industry-wide effort to prevent counterfeit credit and debit card fraud.

From 2004 to 2008, he served as chief executive officer of Command Information, a Carlyle Group portfolio company he founded, which was acquired in 2008. Patterson, who previously held executive positions at Deloitte, KPMG, and IBM, is the author of Mapping Security.

At Unisys, Patterson will lead strategy and development of integrated security solution offerings for the company's commercial and public sector clients worldwide. Unisys security offerings include the Unisys Stealth™ solution, which uses advanced encryption technologies to help organizations minimize the frequency and severity of incidents, as well as advisory, managed, biometric and multifactor authentication solutions.

"Tom combines strong leadership abilities with deep industry knowledge, technical expertise, and a passion for critical infrastructure protection around the world," said Peter Altabef, president and CEO of Unisys. "He is the right person to lead our global cybersecurity practice to new levels of growth and client satisfaction."

"We are thrilled to have Tom join Unisys," said Ron Frankenfield, president of Unisys Enterprise Solutions. "At a time when cyber attacks and data breaches are a daily occurrence, organizations need solutions they can trust to protect their people, information, and vital assets from increasingly sophisticated criminals. With Tom's leadership and expertise, Unisys will be better equipped to help our clients address these pressing issues."
