ATMIA training in European cities on issues of ATM security

Published: 14 June 2011 y., Tuesday

ATMIA, the ATM Industry Association, is an organisation with more than 2,000 members in 60 countries around the world. It promotes the spread of ATMs and their safe use. ATMIA pays a lot of attention to self-service equipment security issues and during the whole month of June it is arranging conferences in various European cities on issues of ATM security.

Such training took place in Riga, the capital of Latvia, on 7–8 June. A similar function will take place in Moscow on 14–15 June. It is expected that it will be attended by specialists responsible for ATM security strategies, heads of companies and all who wish to get more information about self-service equipment security and preventive measures. There will be subsequent ATMIA conferences in Zagreb and London.

A training programme prepared by ATMIA in conjunction with ATM manufacturers will familiarise event participants with methods employed by criminals and various crime prevention and defence methods. Event participants will get answers to all their questions relating to ATM security and maintenance and they will find out how to deal with specific problems and how to avoid them in future.

According to ATMIA Executive Director Maiko Li, this is a fine opportunity to top up your store of knowledge and to share your experience.

“ATMIA makes great efforts to see that ATMs around the world become safer to use. An essential element of our strategy is partnership with LiquidNexxus, a company that specialises in training in the field of security issues for payment cards and equipment. Therefore, taking part in conferences presents the opportunity of finding out more about how to reduce losses, to manage risk, to improve the company’s situation in relation to ATMs and to share experience”,  said M. Li.

One of the participants at the conference, the international company BS/2 (a member of the Penki kontinentai group), which has been a member of ATMIA for ten years, will present its new generation smart video monitoring and dipute management solution ATMeye.iQ, which helps to optimise operating expenses and to reduce the risk of fraud and vandalism. In 2002 ATMeye.iQ was recognised by ATMIA as the best available banking security system.
