Bankers from the Baltic States will compete at the tennis tournament

Published: 14 November 2013 y., Thursday

One late autumn weekend, bank representatives will gather in Vilnius not to discuss important financial issues, but to spend a pleasant weekend with tennis rackets in their hands. On November 16–17, the Baltic Banks Tennis Cup tournament will take place in Vilnius SEB arena.

This year, the fifth Lithuanian banker tournament invites bank representatives not only from Lithuania, but also from other Baltic countries. According to Arūnas Valickas, the representative of the organizing institution "ATW sprendimai", the number of participants have doubled throughout the history of the tournament, therefore, it is nice to see that more and more bankers find time to join such fine initiative and test their skills on the tennis court.

"Many bankers can be met on Lithuanian tennis courts, consequently, the idea emerged to organize a tennis tournament specifically for bankers. Over four years, the event has significantly grown and become traditional, therefore we, together with the tournament partner and the general sponsor BS/2, have decided to invite bankers from the other Baltic States. Because tournament continues to grow and develop, it might be possible in the future to invite participants from the neighbouring countries, like Russia, Belarus, Poland, and Scandinavian countries. Physicians and dentists have their own world championships, so I think we can have a dream about the bankers' European championship, as well," says A.Valickas.

As well as in previous years, JSC Penkių kontinentų bankinės technologijos (BS/2) remains the major sponsor of the event. According to Tomas Augucevičius, Deputy Director of the company, it is a good opportunity to meet and socialize with the clients in the informal environment.

"Work with clients involves not only official meetings, conferences and negotiations, but also joint leisure time. Our sponsored tennis tournament is a possibility to know the other side of one’s customers and to show them, that healthy and active leisure time is a part of a successful business," says T. Augucevičius.

The next bank tennis tournament is planned to be held in Autumn 2014.
