Invited by its partner UAB “Eltecha”, UAB “Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras” (PKKC) is implementing a smart lighting project in the Vytautas the Great War Museum located in Kaunas. In the museum, specialists of the Smart Building Department of the PKKC perform system programming, work on the lighting maintenance and consult on the matters related to the operation of the lighting system.

According to Vaidas Janulis, Head of the Smart Buildings Department, smart lighting in the museum has been primarily chosen due to its cost-effectiveness. “Smart house lighting system operates by responding to the motion, thus there is no waste of electric power. According to the estimates of specialists, smart lighting saves up to 60 percent of the electricity. Moreover, this system is characterized by great flexibility, i.e. it can be tailored to the individual needs of the client”, explained V. Janulis.

Presence detection sensors, up-to-date facility controllers and control panels installed in the Vytautas the Great War Museum will enable the museum staff to choose the desired mode, and ensure maximum comfort for visitors. “Depending on the circumstances, museum staff will be able to set up the required lighting mode: Festive, Working, Sleep or Cleaning. This ensures maximum comfort for museum staff, visitors and guests”, said the Smart House specialist.

Smart lighting systems are not a novelty in Lithuanian museums; similar systems have been installed in the Church Heritage Museum located in Vilnius and National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum in Kaunas.
