The LSDP members are to vote for the final candidates for the presidential and European Parliament elections during the party’s congress, which will take place in Vilnius, “Litexpo”, on 18th of January. The Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has once again firmly assured that he has no intention of running for the President office. Zigmantas Balčytis, the member of the European Parliament and one of the LSDP vice-chairmen, today stands as the party’s major candidate. He is yet to be approved by the party’s bodies – the Presidium, the Council and, ultimately, the Congress. The decision of the LSDP members will be final. Accordingly, the party Congress will decide on the list of 22 candidates running for the European Parliament.
